1. Polar Express
Although The Polar Express is seen as a children’s movie, its eeriness and deeper meanings make this film one for all ages. The plot follows the literal roller coaster ride of children’s journey to the North Pole on Christmas Eve to visit none other than Santa Claus. The life-like and somewhat ominous animations of the film create a solemn mood and make viewers feel like they are a part of the action. The characters’ well developed personalities create complicated back stories that lead viewers to think more deeply about this film that may seem simple on the surface. Worth the watch!
2. The Christmas Story
The Christmas Story is a nostalgic film that documents the overwhelming sense of warmth and good nature of the Christmas season. The plot follows the daily activities of Ralph, a young boy, but is narrated by the grown up Ralph who is looking back on his past. As an adult, Ralph narrates the film and captures the logic and emotions of a child. The Christmas Story can keep the interest of audiences of any age; both children and adults can find it funny and adults can appreciate the deeper meaning of the film. This story is filled with recognizable quotes and scenes and is a great film to watch each year for Christmas. Worth the watch!
3. Elf
Elf is a light-hearted, family oriented Christmas film that is a crowd favorite. The plot of this film follows Buddy the elf as he travels from the North Pole to New York City to find his long lost father. The humorous nature of this movie keeps audiences entertained and adds to the simple plot line. Elf incorporates stories of adventure, self-identity and even a love story into one film.
